Sieger Koder, Manna from Heaven The artwork above depicts the Israelites feasting on the manna from heaven during their 40-year journey through the wilderness. They were tired and hungry, desperate and complaining. Unsure of the outcome of the journey, it felt as though their world was "falling to pieces." And yet, God was holding their "falling to pieces" gently and tenderly all along, providing the sustenance they needed to survive. On those days when I feel as though our own world is falling apart on so many levels, I am reminded of this story from Exodus, and recently came across this quote from Anne Lamott: “When a lot of things start going wrong all at once, it is to protect something big and lovely that is trying to get itself born . . . And this something needs for you to be distracted so that it can be born as perfectly as possible.” In the Exodus, something very big and lovely was trying to be born—moving on to the "promised" land. Maybe this is what is happening today in our world as well. In this "falling," there are God’s hands safely and tenderly holding it all, while in the meantime, something big and lovely is waiting to be born. Instead of despairing, maybe we just need to wait. Trust and wait. Let the entire earth be blessed with Divine Light, Divine Love, and Divine Power. Let the whole earth be blessed with peace, order, spirituality, abundance, and prosperity. Let every person, every being be blessed with happiness, good health, spirituality, prosperity, and abundance. MCKS |
